Caitlin Clark Drops ‘Internet-Breaking’ Swifties Take After Taylor Swift Podcast Appearance

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother Jason dropped arguably the biggest news on the sports calendar to date on Monday when they announced Taylor Swift would be their guest on a special Wednesday night episode of their “New Heights” podcast amid their training camp hiatus.

Swift had never appeared on a podcast before Wednesday’s “New Heights,” which drove up anticipation for when the episode went live.

Among those hyped for Swift’s episode was Indiana Fever guard and noted Swifty Caitlin Clark.

The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year made headlines last year when she appeared at two of Swift’s “Eras Tour” shows at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and again when she joined Swift in her suite at Arrowhead Stadium back in January to support Kelce in Kansas City’s 23-14 win over the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs.

So when Clark heard Swift was appearing on “New Heights” — a podcast she appeared on herself back in early January — she chimed in on social media with a specific concern.

“Are we sure YouTube isn’t going to crash tonight? 😅,” Clark wrote on Wednesday morning, to which the official “New Heights” account replied: “See you in the live chat! ❤️‍🔥.”

As it turns out, Clark’s apprehension was a valid one as “New Heights” did have some technical difficulties as the episode was airing live.

“We hit a glitch but will be back shortly!!!” the show’s X account posted, prompting Clark to take a victory lap because the Swifties had, in fact, crashed YouTube.

“Swifties so powerful we broke the internet,” Clark wrote.

Final numbers aren’t in regarding the number of viewers that tuned in for Wednesday’s show, but as many as 1.5 million viewers were watching live and the “New Heights” YouTube channel lists total viewership at 1.7 million views as of 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday night.
