The show, in which a rotating lineup of stars reads excerpts from other famous people’s memoirs, first appeared on Broadway in 2018 and will now play the Shubert Theatre.
Extra, extra, read all about them! The starry revue Celebrity Autobiography will return to Broadway this spring, playing at the Shubert Theatre starting May 16.
In Celebrity Autobiography, a rotating lineup of stars reads excerpts from the memoirs of other famous figures from past and present. In addition to solo excerpts, the show combines passages from various autobiographies into ensemble “mash-ups,” showing the different sides of famous love triangles and more.
The show first premiered in New York in 2008, winning the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience the following year. It has since played in London’s West End and at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, among other places.
A three-night engagement in 2018 marked Celebrity Autobiography’s Broadway debut, and the 2026 production will be its first full-length Broadway run.
Participants will include Brooke Adams, Pamela Adlon, Scott Adsit, Lewis Black, Christie Brinkley, Danny Burstein, Mario Cantone, Bob Costas, Tate Donovan, Chloe Fineman, Will Forte, Gina Gershon, Kathy Griffin, Jeff Hiller, Jackie Hoffman, Ken Jeong, Gayle King, Stewart Lane, Susan Lucci, Ralph Macchio, Ben Mankiewicz, Andrea Martin, Eric McCormack, Bobby Moynihan, Laraine Newman, Oscar Nunez, Cheri Oteri, Tiler Peck, Billy Porter, Phil Rosenthal, Tony Shalhoub, Sherri Shepherd, Molly Shannon, Jennifer Tilly, Nia Vardalos, Bruce Vilanch, Rita Wilson, and Alan Zweibel.
Most stars will appear for a week or two at a time, while others will perform for one or two nights. Some performances will also feature surprise guests.
Celebrity Autobiography is created by Eugene Pack and developed by Pack and Dayle Reyfel. The pair also direct and host and appear in the show alongside the celebrities.
