Celebrity Gogglebox is back for its eighth season and, so far, we’ve seen quite a few new famous faces on the show, as well as some returning characters from previous editions. This week, we can expect to see two more celebrities join the mix, as it has just been announced that two Strictly Come Dancing professionals will feature on the Friday 26 June episode!
In an entertainment segment on Lorraine Kelly’s show yesterday (25 June), reporter Ross King confirmed that Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu will make a surprise appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox. Yay!
“Some news for Strictly fans. A couple of Strictly characters are going to be in something else,” Ross said. “I’m thrilled for this. Our pal Amy Dowden, along with Carlos [Gu], who of course won with Karen [Carney] in the last season.”
“They’re going to be on Gogglebox on Friday,” he went on. “They’re going to be together as a little couple, and weirdly enough, they absolutely love watching TV together.”

Amy Dowden is a professional dancer on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. She made her debut on season 15 in 2017 and has so far competed in eight seasons of the show.
Beyond being a fan-favourite on Strictly, Amy is also known for her advocacy work for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. According to the charity, Amy was diagnosed with Crohn’s when she was 19 years old and has gone on to use her celebrity status to help raise awareness about Crohn’s & Colitis UK as well as to advocate for better care for people living with Crohn’s or Colitis. Amy Dowden has been in a relationship with fellow professional dancer Ben Jones for over a decade. The pair have been together since Amy was in her early 20s, and were even crowned British National Latin Dance champions as a pair. How sweet! They now also run a dance academy together.

When did Amy Dowden have cancer?
Amy Dowden initially found a lump in her breast in 2023. After that, MRI scans revealed multiple tumours, and she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May of that year. She then underwent a full mastectomy as well as eight rounds of chemotherapy.
In February 2024, Amy happily shared that a medical checkup had offered good news. “No evidence of disease – words I’ve dreamed of”, she said in an Instagram post at the time, describing this as her “biggest accomplishment yet”.
The following year, in November, Amy had a second mastectomy as a preventative measure and reassured her fans that this was not due to a new cancer diagnosis. Rather, the hormone-fed nature of the cancer she’d previously been diagnosed with required extensive management.
What is Amy’s life like with Crohn’s?
Speaking about living with Crohn’s, Amy Dowden said: “It was such a relief to finally receive a diagnosis.”
“I just have to look out for the signs, which for me start with swollen eyes. Then I call my doctor,” she explained. “I have learnt to listen to my body, and to notice when things start getting out of tune. I know when I need to rest, and when I have to eat simply and drink lots of water. I have always been driven to win, so Crohn’s was never going to hold me back.”
