Celtic trio performs Jan. 31 at Parish Center for the Arts in Westford

Fódhla, a Celtic trio that offers traditional Irish music and inventive harmonies, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Parish Center for the Arts in Westford, according to a community announcement.

Tickets are priced at $20 for members, $22 for non-members and $25 at the door if still available. Seating will be cabaret style, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own beverages and snacks.

Doors will open 30 minutes before the show, according to the announcement.

Fódhla, named for a protective spirit of Ireland, features fiddler Ellery Klein, flute player Nicole Rabata and guitarist Bethany Waickman. The group’s sound is rooted in traditional Irish melodies, with Klein and Rabata drawing on their experiences in Ireland’s Cork, Limerick and Ennis regions. Waickman’s guitar work adds rhythmic support, honed from years of playing for contradances.

Fódhla aims to appeal to a broad audience by bringing variety, inventive harmonies and unique arrangements to traditional music, according to the announcement. A typical concert starts off with high-energy traditional sets of Irish reels and jigs, includes trade melody and harmonies and a joyful and toe-tapping pair of barn dances soaring out on a high note. Finally, the soft notes of guitar bring in a melancholy, exquisite slow air.

Tickets can be reserved in advance at pcawestford.org. The event is expected to feature dancing in the Gallery, and advance reservations are recommended.
