You’ll be able to see Charlie Berens onstage at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center next month and you won’t even have to watch out for deer to do it.
His sophomore special, “Neighborly,” filmed in February at the Appleton venue, will premiere Dec. 1 on his YouTube channel.
“From the heart of America comes the cheapest hour of comedy …” touts the trailer that was released on Nov. 3 and already has more than 10,000 views. It shows the Wisconsin comedian making jokes about being from a family of 12 children, bringing beer into church and contemplating a world where robots outnumber people. There’s even a cameo by his Grandma Sue from the audience.
“Neighborly” is a follow-up to his 2023 stand-up special, “Midwest Goodbye,” which was filmed at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee. He said he chose Appleton for the second special, because his first stand-up gig was at the Skyline Comedy Club in the city in 2017.
Comedian Charlie Berens’ new comedy special, “Neighborly,” drops Dec. 1 on his YouTube channel.
Berens, who has more than 10 million followers across his social channels, grew up in Elm Grove and has struck comedic gold with his brand of folksy Midwest humor. In addition to his stand-up career, he also hosts the “Bellied Up” podcast with Myles the You Betcha Guy, his own “The Cripescast Podcast” and the video segments that launched his career and have kept ‘er movin’ ever since, “Manitowoc Minute.”
He is currently on his The Lost & Found Tour, which has dates into May.
