Chase McDaniel is pulling back the curtain on his personal journey with the release of his latest single, ‘My Side of the Family’ out today, Friday, August 8. The Big Machine Records artist continues to dive deep into his own story, delivering a powerful, introspective track that explores the fear of repeating the mistakes of generations past.

The new single is the latest preview of McDaniel’s upcoming debut album ‘Lost Ones,’ set to arrive on September 19. Known for his raw, unfiltered songwriting, McDaniel doesn’t shy away from tough topics. ‘My Side of the Family’ balances emotional weight with a melodic, rootsy arrangement produced by Lindsay Rimes, featuring banjo, acoustic guitar, and fiddle. Co-written by McDaniel alongside Zach Kale and Seth Mosley, the track reveals both gratitude for the life he’s building and anxiety about the legacy he might pass on.

In the chorus, McDaniel questions whether the demons he’s battled are inescapable, singing, “Do I got them same demons running in my blood / ‘Cause I got that strange feeling, if I have a son / That I’m gonna pass down the same things.” The track ends with a haunting prayer that his child won’t inherit the struggles he’s worked so hard to overcome.

‘My Side of the Family’ sets the tone for ‘Lost Ones,’ a 12-track album created during a time of reflection and healing. Each song was co-written by McDaniel, including his rising single ‘Burned Down Heaven.’ The record tackles heavy themes like depression and the trauma of losing his father to addiction, offering a lifeline to listeners navigating similar battles. Scheduled for release during National Suicide Prevention Month, ‘Lost Ones’ is McDaniel’s effort to use his story as a source of strength and connection for anyone feeling lost or alone.
