Chelsea Wolfe has announced her ninth studio album, ‘The Dark,’ which is set to arrive on August 21 through Loma Vista.
The new record from the acclaimed folk doom artist was officially unveiled on July 21, following the recent release of two previously shared singles, including the album’s title track and “Death Is Not The End.”
The latest preview from ‘The Dark’ comes in the form of “Cold,” which arrives alongside a new music video directed by Magdalena Wosinska.
The upcoming album features several notable guest appearances, including Robin Finck of Nine Inch Nails, drummer Matt Chamberlain (A Perfect Circle, Ghost), and members of Kælan Mikla.
Discussing the themes behind ‘The Dark,’ Chelsea Wolfe explained that the album explores personal accountability, complicated relationships, and the process of moving forward.
“The ghosts are haunted by the living just as much as the living are haunted by the ghosts. On this album, I’m not pointing the finger at anyone. I’m taking responsibility. Someone who may have been a toxic presence in my life… maybe I was bad for them, too. It’s ok to move away from these types of connections that only seem to cause confusion for both parties, after a long stretch of trying to work it out.”

Following the release, Chelsea Wolfe will embark on an extensive international touring schedule featuring support from Jonathan Hultén in North America and A.A. Williams across Europe.
