Chippenham music events: Update to garage turning into venue

The Pennsylvania Chocolate and Coffee Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Montgomery County. More than 100 vendors will offer chocolates and coffees alongside local crafts, gourmet foods, music and family-friendly activities. There will be  free tastings and opportunities to learn more about chocolate and coffee. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 to 4 on Sunday. Learn more at www.pachocolateandcoffee.com.

Reading Symphony

The Reading Symphony Orchestra opens its season Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at the Santander Performing Arts Center.

RSO Music Director Andrew Constantine will lead the orchestra accompanied by the Reading Choral Society. Soloists are Christina Pier, soprano; Abigail Nims, mezzo-soprano; Charles Reid, tenor; amd Michael Dean, bass-baritone.

Queen tribute

Tribute act Killer Queen performs Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Lansdowne Theater in Delaware County. The band has grown in popularity, filling big venues where Queen once performed at its peak. They were the first tribute act to have a show in London’s West End theater district. Learn more at thelansdownetheater.com/.

Keswick shows

Upcoming shows at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Montgomery County.

• Shaun Cassidy performs Thursday at 8 p.m. After making his name as a performer in the 1970s, Cassidy went on to create, write, and produce a number of critically acclaimed television series. Cassidy’s “The Road to Us” is an intimate live show in which he combines his music with personal stories and reflections.

• Mo’Nique and Friends appear Friday night at 7 and 10 p.m.. Mo’Nique is an award-winning comedian whose career began 20 years ago. She will be joined by George Willborn, Malcolm Hill and Coby Jakk. The show is hosted by Craig McLaren.

• Comedian Pat McGann performs Saturday at 8. A husband and father of three young children, his appeal stems from his quick wit and relatable take on family life & marriage.

• Author, columnist, and comedian Steve Hofstetter appears Sunday at 8. He has made numerous TV and radio appearances, is one of the top booked acts on the college circuit and has  released six albums.

Mount Joy

Mount Joy performs Friday and Saturday at 8:30 at the TD Pavilion at the Mann Music Center.

The Philadelphia native indie-rock band formed in 2016. After nearly a decade of touring and recording three critically acclaimed albums, the five-piece reached new heights in 2024, playing some of America’s biggest venues and selling more than 180,000 tickets on a 70-date U.S. and international tour. The band is touring behind their fourth album, “Hope We Have Fun,” which was released in May.

Iris DeMent

Grammy-nominated folk artist Iris DeMent performs Friday at 8 p.m. at the Miller Center for the Arts at Reading Area Community College. Learn more at millercenter.racc.edu/.

Family show

The Ensemble Arts Philly Family Discovery Series presents iLuminate on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Miller Theatre, 250 S. Broad St.. The show is a fusion of cutting-edge technology and dance that appeared on “America’s Got Talent.” Dancers perform to energetic music including pop and rock hits from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, jazz, Latin,  hip-hop and more. The dancers are outfitted with LED suits to create lighting effects with each of the dance moves. The experience blends music, dance, illusion, technology and comedy..

Ravel and ‘Harry Potter’

The Philadelphia Orchestra opens its season tonight at 7 at Marian Anderson Hall in the Kimmel Center. Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducts, and soloist Yuja Wang will perform the Ravel Piano Concerto in G major. The orchestra also will perform works by Marquez and Wolfe.

Justin Freer conducts the orchestra as it accompanies a screening of “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” at Marian Anderson Hall in the Kimmel Center. There will be shows Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2. The film features a score by John Williams.

Festivals

• The sixth annual Berks Cultural Diversity Festival is set for Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. in Reading City Park. Organizers say the event celebrates the rich tapestry of cultures within Berks County and offers a platform for cultural exchange and appreciation. The day features traditional music and dances, poetry and an opportunity to visit food trucks incorporating cuisines from around the world. • The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University presents Heemet Fescht on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sharadin Farmstead, 22 Luckenbill Road, Kutztown, Berks County. The free event is a celebration of the harvest and Pennsylvania Dutch farm life with, traditional arts, barn star painting, folklife demonstrations, hayrides, pumpkin painting and children’s crafts. • The Celtic Classic Highland Games & Festival runs Friday through Sunday in downtown Bethlehem. It has five stages of entertainers representing Scotland and Ireland. • Linvilla Orchards Apple Festival in Delaware County features entertainment, hayrides, mazes and fall foods. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. See www.linvilla.com/family-fun/apple-festival for more information.

• Cider Fest is set for Saturday at the Mill at Anselma in Chester Springs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. It includes children’s games, face painting, raffles, and food and merchandise from local vendors. • The 31st annual Outdoor Juried New Hope Arts Crafts Festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at New Hope-Solebury High School in Bucks County. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 to 4 on Sunday. The event features over 160 fine artists and craftsmen across diverse media.
