Christina Applegate returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week after not appearing on the late night program in almost 2 years.
After last visiting Kimmel’s show back in March 2024, Applegate once again returned as a guest on the Monday, Feb. 23 episode, where she shared all the details about her new memoir, You With the Sad Eyes.
Speaking with Kimmel about her new book, which comes out next week, Applegate, 54, got candid about some of the heartbreaking stories she covers in the book, including her tumultuous childhood, her life as an actress and of course, her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS).
“I went through a lot of stuff in my life and in this book, there is some bad stuff that happened to me,” Applegate explained to Kimmel, while describing many of the experiences she writes about in her book as “painful.”
“If you want to read it,” she said addressing the audience, while warning, “I’m so sorry if it’s really tragic to you, but it’s kind of a tragic story about my life.”
“It’s true and it’s what happened,” she added.
The Married…with Children alum was diagnosed with the disease in 2021 while working on the hit Netflix series Dead to Me. Since wrapping the show in 2022, Applegate has largely stepped away from acting, and now hosts the MeSsy podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also has MS.
Fans were delighted to see Applegate out and about on Kimmel, with several users on Instagram saying they “just love” to hear from her.
“So happy to see you do this interview,” one user wrote in the comments, while someone else noted they “Love her spirit.”
“She perseveres,” another supporter added.
Applegate’s memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, officially hits bookshelves on Tuesday, March 3.
