The road leading into a proposed development featuring a restaurant with an outdoor entertainment venue, an athletic facility, and other businesses off the Calhoun Station Parkway behind Sullivan’s Grocery was officially named a public street earlier this month.
The development will be known as Kayo Center and will feature a Burgers and Blues, JAM Athletics, D Noblin Furniture, and a ladies’ boutique known as West of 55. Renderings also show at least three proposed future buildings that do not currently have tenants.
Developer Lee Sahler said they would like to begin construction on the project before the end of the year.
The known buildings received site plan approval from the city earlier this year. The street was named after city officials approved the final plat for Kayo Center at their Nov. 10 meeting. The street will be called Kayo Place.
The board approved the final plat for the Kayo Center in a 5-0 vote.
City officials have said that, outside of some permits for the individual buildings, final plat approval was the last major issue the city needed to approve before developers could start the project.
Sahler compared the development to The District at Eastover off of I-55 in Jackson, where Sal and Mookie’s is. The Brugers and Blues would include a live outdoor entertainment venue.
