QUEUES have been spotted outside a civic hall as a new programme of live music events continues to grow in popularity.
Brighouse Civic Hall is drawing crowds for its Thursday nostalgia shows, which celebrate music from the 1950s and 60s and have quickly become one of the area’s most talked about weekly fixtures.
Ellen Boyle, event manager at Brighouse Civic Hall, said: “After 13 years of putting on weekly events in Bradford, we hoped the format might work in Brighouse but even we’ve been surprised by just how popular it’s become.
“Seeing queues outside the doors and full dancefloors week after week has been incredible.
“There’s a real appetite for live music and proper feel-good afternoons, and we’re proud to be bringing that energy to the town.”
The events feature bands and performers from across the UK, spanning genres including rock ’n’ roll, Motown, soul, ska and reggae, with organisers now expanding the weekly schedule.
From March, a brand new Soul & Motown Monday afternoon will launch, while Saturday nights will offer a mix of free-entry live shows and special ticketed headline performances.
With the traditional 1940s weekend not taking place in Brighouse this year, the civic hall will host its own free-entry event.
