Beginning in April of 2026, former The Young and the Restless star Conner Floyd will debut as Chad DiMera on the Peacock streaming soap opera Days of Our Lives. In a new interview, the actor teased what fans can expect from his highly anticipated arrival.
At the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Floyd caught up with Dishin’ Days, a popular YouTube series covering Days of Our Lives,on the red carpet. During the conversation, Floyd was asked if his interpretation of Chad leans towards the character’s darker DiMera roots or his lighter side.
Floyd explained that his version of Chad will explore the character’s inner struggle between good and evil, saying, “Chad kind of walks the line, right? What I found really interesting in Chad is that he has this kind of evil family past that he’s trying to escape. I looked at it as a Spider-Man, black symbiote situation where he’s fighting this evil power, but sometimes it gets a hold of him and the DiMera shows up and I think that’s really interesting.”
The actor also reflected on how the part differs from his previous The Young and the Restless alter ego, Chance Chancellor, adding, “So, that’s kind of where I like to live, definitely not buttoned up, He doesn’t have to wear all the Chance stuff. So, he’s a little bit more loose, which is great.”
Floyd’s Credits
Floyd made his professional debut in 2019’s Witness, before landing the role of beloved legacy character Phillip ‘Chance’ Chancellor IV on The Young and The Restless in 2021. He portrayed the character until early 2025, when Chance was written off the show.
Who is Chad DiMera?
Chad first appeared on Days of Our Lives in 2009 (then played by Casey Deidrick) as a romantic interest for Mia (Taylor Spreitler). It was revealed quickly that he was the father of her child (Grace Brady). Through the years it is revealed that Chad’s father was actually Stefano DiMera. In 2011 Chad (now played by Billy Flynn) embarked on what would become a fan-favorite pairing with Abigail Deveraux. The two would eventually marry and have two children, Thomas and Charlotte. After Abigails unfortunate murder, Chad has tried to navigate life as a single father, and is currently pursuing a relationship with Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord).
Earlier this year, Billy Flynn announced his departure as he was accepting a role, Cane Ashby, on The Young and the Restless. The show then confirmed the Floyd would be taking over the role as of April 2026.
