Morgan Wallen has dethroned himself on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
After a 20-week run in the No. 1 spot with his song “What I Want” featuring Tate McRae, the country hitmaker replaced himself at the top of the list with the rise of another one of his songs, “I Got Better.”
According to Billboard, “I Got Better” rose to the top of the country chart this week after garnering 13.2 million streams in the U.S. from Oct. 3—9.
The song originally came out over the summer as part of Wallen’s fourth studio album, I’m the Problem, but the recent uptick in streaming is believed to be connected to the release of the song’s music video, which premiered on Oct. 1.
“I Got Better” is Wallen’s 12th song to reach No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart throughout his career.
Prior to “What I Want” spending 20 weeks at the top, Wallen’s last No. 1 song was the title track from I’m the Problem, which was released as a single in January and reigned at the top of the chart for one week.
He also topped the chart twice in 2024, first with his and Post Malone‘s “I Had Some Help,” for seven weeks, followed by “Love Someone” for one week in November 2024.
In 2023, Wallen’s hit song “Last Night” spent a whopping 25 weeks at No. 1.
Three of his 2022 releases also peaked on the Hot Country Songs chart, with “Don’t Think Jesus,” “Thought You Should Know” and “You Proof” each spending a week at the top.
In January 2021, “Wasted on You” spent 11 weeks at No. 1, following his one-week chart-topper “7 Summers” in August 2020. Wallen’s first-ever No. 1 song on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart was “Whiskey Glasses,” reigning at the top for 2 weeks in May 2019.
