Country music could be on the verge of having a new richest singer on the block.
The current leader in net worth is one that some traditional fans of the genre have not fully embraced — Beyoncé.
Whether they like it or not though, she has earned her spot, after her “Cowboy Carter” won Best Country Album at the Grammys last year. Her success there, along with her work in R&B and business ventures, helped her join elite company earlier this year as one of only a handful of musicians in the world to amass a net worth of $1 billion or more, according to Forbes.
She sits right at $1 billion while her husband, Jay-Z, sits atop the list with $2.53 billion. Rihanna, with an estimated fortune of $1.03 billion, Bruce Springsteen ($1.17 billion), and Taylor Swift ($2.1 billion) all made the list. Paul McCartney also has an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion.
As for the richest artists in country music, Dolly Parton is right behind Beyoncé with an estimated fortune of $650 million followed by Garth Brooks ($400 million) and Shania Twain ($350-410 million).
But according to a recent Wall Street Journal report, Brooks could be on the verge of making a deal that would not only vault him to the top of the country music net worth list but also help him challenge Jay-Z as the richest singer on the planet.
The outlet reported that Brooks is considering a sale of his music catalog and is seeking “roughly $2 billion for the rights to his songs and recordings.”
The Wall Street Journal noted that Sony bought Queen’s publishing for $1 billion in 2024 and half of Michael Jackson’s catalog for “over $1 billion.”
Considering Brooks’ long list of hits, it seems likely his catalog could fetch the numbers he is reportedly looking for.
As for Beyoncé, she has several business interests that have helped boost her wealth including a hair care brand, a whiskey label, and a clothing line, but Forbes noted that her musical career remains red-hot and is the main source of her fortune.
The outlet reported that her Cowboy Carter Tour had more than $400 million in gross ticket sales and sold an estimated $50 million in merchandise.
Her cut from everything in 2025, per Forbes, was an estimated $125 million. The outlet said that made her the third highest-paid musician in the world for the year.
