Craig Melvin had his mini-me by his side during a historic moment in New York.
On Wednesday, June 10, the Today co-anchor, 47, shared a series of photos on his Instagram while attending Game 4 of the NBA Finals alongside his 12-year-old son, Delano.
In one sweet photo, the father-son duo smiled side-by-side, holding their hands in the air as they celebrated the New York Knicks’ win over the San Antonio Spurs. Melvin also included video clips of the stadium cheering as “Knicks Win” scrolled over the Jumbotron at Madison Square Garden.
“A game for the ages and a core memory too,” Melvin wrote in his caption.

He also shared a selfie of the two of them from before the game, writing, “And here we go….”
Melvin shares Delano and his younger sister, Sybil, 9, with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak.
Back in April, Melvin’s son Delano joined his dad at Studio 1A at Today in honor of “Bring Your Kid to Work” Day. Delano made an appearance during the first part of the NBC morning show with other kids of staffers on the Today Plaza, but he also appeared during the 3rd Hour of Today, when he joined his dad, Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer at the round table for a discussion.
“My son, Delano, woke up early, very early,” Melvin quipped, as a producer rolled Delano into the frame on his chair.
After calling the entrance “really fun,” it seemed that Delano wasn’t done taking advantage of his spinning chair as he tried to twirl it around at the desk, which Melvin quickly put a stop to.
“No, son, you’ve got to… the cameras,” Melvin said, pointing to the camera with one hand and moving Delano’s chair back with his other. “You’ve got to pay attention.”
In January 2025, Melvin spoke to PEOPLE for a cover story and shared that although he has a very early start to his days, there’s one thing he always does at home for his kids to wake up to.
“There are these things called Loveboxes,” he told PEOPLE. “Every morning in the car, I send them a message, and they lift the top of the box and they can read the message from dad that particular morning. And usually it’s some sort of motivational message or it’s a picture that we took the day before.”
He added, “It’s like, I’m not there, but I’m there.”
He credited Czarniak for his ability to find balance. “She’s the best mom,” Melvin said. “Just watching her in action is amazing. Juggling her schedule, juggling my schedule, and always being totally present.”
