Dose, a crime drama about triad queenpin and a female cop, will kickstart a five-title partnership between KC Global Media and Rein Entertainment.
The “highly-stylized” eight-part series is centered on the two powerful women, one a rising triad boss and the other a relentless international police agent. Forced into a tense alliance, they face corrupt cops, mobsters and violent enforcers as their initial mission for justice and revenge becomes a savage battle for survival.
The show was recently selected for the Producers’ Pitch at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest. No word on casting or buyers yet.
The series is the first of five new shows that KC Global and Rein will make together, and marks their second together. They have already teamed for AXN Asia mini-series Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence, a crime drama set against the Filippino war on drugs.
KC Global is the brainchild of former Sony executives Andy Kaplan and George Chien, and owns English-language general entertainment network AXN, Japanese anime content network Animax, Korean general entertainment network, ONE, Japanese entertainment network, GEM, English-language general entertainment FAST network KCM and AXN Sports. The U.S.-based company has offices in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, China, the Philippines, and South Korea.
Rein, based in the Philippines, has made the likes of socio-political thriller Bagman, LGBTQ+ romantic comedy Betcin, suspense thriller Nanahimik Ang Gabi (A Silent Night), Netflix Asia pic Elevator and The Caretakers, an eco-horror film set for international distribution this year.
“This slate marks an exciting new chapter in our partnership with Rein Entertainment, as we double down on bold, globally resonant storytelling from Asia,” said Bonnie Wiryani, Vice President, Revenue & Head of Content Sales, KC Global Media Distribution.
