Dan + Shay fans looking to hear from them just haven’t gotten much via social media in 2025, and that apparently had folks talking.
Is the popular country music duo breaking up?
Well, the duo returned to social media to address that talk and more on Wednesday.
“What’s up y’all. It is Dan and Shay,” Dan said with Shay seated behind him in a video they shared to Instagram on Wednesday. “Hey, we just wanted to pop on here real quick. I know it won’t be quick. I’ll start rambling, but just to give you guys an update as to where we have been. We did not plan to take a social media hiatus for almost a whole year, but last year was crazy. We did ‘The Voice,’ we did two tours, we did two Christmas albums, and then we went wild on social media for the Christmas blitz. And then Shay and Hanna had a baby at the top of this year, and we’ve been in the studio literally all year pretty much every day, making our favorite music we have ever made.”
That is when Dan Smyers dove into the talk of them splitting up.
“People are asking did Dan and Shay break up?” he said. “Literally, we could not be further from breaking up. We are closer than we have ever been. We are having a blast. Having the time of our lives. We just wanted to pop on here and say, ‘We love you guys.’ We’ve been thinking about you. We miss you. We’ve just been buried in the studio and forgot to post on socials so here we are. We are posting on socials. Hitting the algorithm.”
And they promised fans will be hearing plenty of them in the coming year.
“Next year is gonna be crazy,” Dan said. “More music than ever. More tours, more shows than ever. We’re fired up.”
That is when Shay Mooney chimed in.
“We love you,” he said. “We’ll see you soon. We are back baby!”
