But while there have traditionally been just two rounds of dances throughout the broadcast, it looks like the show will change things up for the season 34 finale. As co-host Alfonso Ribeiro revealed on the November 18 episode of DWTS, the final installment will feature three rounds of competition for each celeb.
“Next week, we’re taking over all of ABC in primetime with our most demanding season finale in the history of the show,” he shared during the episode, per Cosmopolitan. “For the first time, we’ll have three rounds of competition.”
So, what does the lineup look like for the Dancing With the Stars season 34 finale? According to a report from E! News, the show will add a new round called the “Instant Dances.” This will have the celebrities doing one of four dances to an as-yet-revealed song on live TV. They will also find out what style of dance they’ll have to perform right before they hit the ballroom floor.
Now, how are the celebs feeling about this new shocker ahead of the finale? Well, Alix teased how rehearsals were going in a behind-the-scenes TikTok posted on November 22.
“We’re actually here until 9 p.m. tonight,” she shared in the clip. “We did our freestyle, we did our Samba, we did one of our Instant Dances… we still have three to go!”
