Dancing With the Stars season 34 is about to premiere on ABC, but someone special will be missing the big night.
The latest installment of the hit competition series is set to air on September 16, 2025, and fans are ready to see the newest batch of celebrities hit the dance floor. But one person who is unexpectedly not going to be there for the live premiere? Longtime judge Carrie Ann Inaba.
While it initially seemed like the TV personality would be sitting on the judges’ panel with Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli, she shocked fans with an Instagram message just hours before the DWTS season 34 premiere. Carrie Ann shared that she’d gotten sick, and while she won’t be there, she’s excited to see what the contestants will do for their first week dances.
“I wanted to share that I will not be at the show tonight as I am feeling quite under the weather,” she wrote. “I’m resting up and can’t wait to be back next week in good health. In the meantime, I wish all the contestants the very best of luck. I’ll be cheering you on from home. 🤍🙏. Have a great show everyone! 🪩💃🏻🕺🏻⭐️.”
When news broke about Carrie Ann needing to step away for the DWTS season 34 premiere, many of the show’s current pros took to social media to send her well wishes.
“Hope you feel better Carrie Ann! ❤️❤️,” Britt Stewart wrote in the comments. “Feel better Carrie Ann!!!” Jenna Johnson commented. “Feel better!!!!!!,” Pasha Pashkov added.
What’s more, fans rallied around Carrie Ann with the hopes she’ll recover quickly.

Even though Carrie Ann never explicitly stated what was making her feel under the weather, the former The Talk host has been candid in the past about her health. But for those wondering if Dancing With the Stars will have someone else sit in Carrie Ann’s place for the premiere, Deadline reported the panel will only feature Derek and Bruno for this week.
