Dave Larkin on Dallas Crane’s Return | New Song Trouble Knows My Name, Album 6 + Touring Plans

Dallas Crane are back in 2025 with new music, live shows and plans for a long-awaited sixth album. Frontman Dave Larkin sat down with Paul Cashmere at Noise11.com to talk about the band’s return, their new single Trouble Knows My Name, and what lies ahead.

The new track is classic Dallas Crane: riff-heavy rock and roll with a sharp lyrical twist. Its title was born from a real-life courtroom moment. Larkin recalls contesting a traffic fine when he overheard a repeat offender quip to the judge, “Trouble knows my name.” The line stuck, eventually finding its way into a song. “Had I not almost lost my licence, the song probably wouldn’t exist,” he laughs.

The band are currently working towards their sixth album, aiming for a mid-2026 release. Larkin admits there’s a “sixth album slog” underway, but the songs are coming together, shaped by new home studio methods that allow for tighter writing and quicker production. “I’ve got drives full of songs that will never see the light of day,” he says, “but this one made it into the ‘good’ column.”

Dallas Crane will also return to the stage with select shows in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. Rising touring costs mean the band are choosing carefully where they play, with Adelaide and the AFL Grand Final Eve gig at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel standing out as highlights. They’ll also join the Hoodoo Gurus in Manly, a band Larkin says remain “incredible” live and great supporters of Dallas Crane.

From reflecting on their debut Lent, to the enduring power of their self-titled 2004 classic and their time signed to Alberts, Larkin’s chat with Noise11 reveals a band both nostalgic and forward-looking.
