David Beckham has taken to Instagram to wish his son Brooklyn Beckham a happy birthday despite the pair’s alleged long-running feud.
Model Brooklyn is celebrating his 27th birthday on Wednesday (4 March) just weeks after he publicly called out his parents David and Victoria in a scathing social media post.
In January, Brooklyn made a series of allegations against his parents, claiming that they ‘tried endlessly to ruin his relationship’ with partner Nicola Peltz.
Part of Brooklyn’s bombshell claims read: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.
“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”
Despite the allegations, former professional footballer David shared a photo of a younger Brooklyn and himself to his Instagram Stories to mark his birthday. “Happy Birthday Bust,” David wrote, before adding: “Love you.”
He also shared a snap of Brooklyn as a baby in the swimming pool alongside mom Victoria.
Earlier this year, Brooklyn went on to claim that he’s been ‘silent for years’ in a bid to keep the alleged family feud ‘private’.
The Beckhams’ eldest child said: “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”
It’s even been reported that Brooklyn has sent David and Victoria a ‘cease and desist’ letter, meaning the family can only contact each other through lawyers.
A source told The Sun: “The reality is that he issued them with a letter at the end of last summer, asking for any correspondence to go via lawyers only, and wanted to try and make amends privately, not publicly.
“He felt his parents continued to ignore his wishes and kept mentioning him online instead of reaching out privately.”
The source, which is believed to be close to the Beckhams, went on to claim that David and Victoria have ‘tried to let their beloved eldest son know the door is always open’.
