David Coverdale went straight for the heart with this one.

Whitesnake released one last music video a week after the frontman, 74, announced his retirement from music.

The band shared “Forevermore (DC & Hook City Strings – Official Video 2025 Remix)” on Thursday.

The five-minute music video was directed by Payton T. Murphy and saw footage of Coverdale singing as images of his life flashed behind him.

Black-and-white shots included the rock icon and his wife, Cindy Barker, embracing. The pair have been married since 1997.

“The MOST ELEGANT WAY to say goodbye: I’ll be there FOREVEMORE with the songs, with the voice in your head, even though I’m gone,” one fan penned in the comments. “Thanks for the love you put into all the Art you did David,” while a second chimed in: “It was and is an honor for me to listen to your music. Thank you very much, Sir.”

A second wrote: “Always have been and always will be a fan. Thank you DC! All the best to you and your beautiful Bride.”

The group also promoted the music video on Instagram, writing, “Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls, Brothers & Sisters of the SNAKE…This is it!!! The last & final video from Whitesnake!!!!”

Last week, Coverdale shared he was stepping away from music after a decades-long career.

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, brothers and sisters of the Snake, a special announcement for you,” he began in his shock announcement. “The last few years has been very evident to me that it’s time really for me to hang up my rock and roll platform shoes and my skin-tight jeans. And as you can see, we’ve taken care of the lion’s wig. But it’s time for me to call it a day.”

Coverdale went on to thank fans who supported him in both Whitesnake and Deep Purple.

“It really is time for me to just enjoy my retirement, and I hope you can appreciate that,” he continued.

“I love you dearly. I thank everyone who’s assisted and supported me on this incredible journey. All the musicians, the crew, the fans, the family. It’s amazing,” Coverdale gushed, before raising a glass as he delivered his final message.

“Fare thee well,” he said, referencing the band’s 2011 song of the same name.

The track then played as pictures of Coverdale’s career appeared on the screen.

“Without a doubt, this is the classiest farewell I have ever seen or heard from an artist. Words cannot express what your music has meant to me. Thank you for everything, and fare thee well, indeed,” one person wrote beneath his social media post.

Added another: “From the first time I ever heard your voice, I have been hooked on you. In 1988, I was fighting for my life with ovarian cancer and here I am today still rocking to your music. I will be a Whitesnake fan till my last breath. I love you David Coverdale.”

Shortly after, Coverdale’s wife revealed that this day was supposed to actually happen decades ago.

“Happy ‘Official’ Retirement, Baby!! I love you with all my heart,” Barker penned via Instagram. “What an incredible journey I’ve been so lucky to go on with you! Now we just get to play!! I can’t wait to see what you do next …”

“Side Note: when I met David 35 years ago he told me he was retiring … 🎶,” she explained. “This was taken flying to the last show I went to, not knowing at the time it was my last Whitesnake show … bittersweet!”

Coverdale’s retirement comes six years after Whitesnake released their last album in 2019.

They went on to play their last concert at Hellfest in France on June 23, 2022. The iconic group ultimately canceled their remaining shows due to several band members, including Coverdale himself, suffered health issues.

“Last year, I was so incredibly compromised by, without any doubt, the worst sinus infection I’ve ever had in my life. And as a singer, I know them like f – – king relatives of mine,” Coverdale told Ultimate Classic Rock in 2023. “This was one of the ugliest illnesses I think I’ve [ever] had. For seven months, I was taking ever-increasingly strong antibiotics and horrifying Prednisone steroids.”

“I really don’t know [when we’ll be back onstage],” he added. “I’ll be 72 this year. But, you know, my passion is that of a much younger man, particularly with the new creative team that I have, working on these legacy projects and also new things at the same time. It’s like bluebirds flying out of every orifice.”

Coverdale started out in the United Kingdom with local bands before landing the role of lead singer for Deep Purple in 1973.

Three years later, the rocker launched his solo career and released two studio albums.

Coverdale founded Whitesnake in 1978 alongside guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody.

The band went on to release 13 albums, with their 2008 release “Good To Be Bad” earning them album of the year from Classic Rock magazine.

The Whitesnake frontman and Led Zeppelin founder, Jimmy Page, collaborated for their certified platinum album “Coverdale/Page” in 1993.

In 2016, Coverdale was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple.
