Hitsujibungaku Talk New Single ‘Dogs’: Japan Women In Music Interview

Disturbed frontman David Draiman has given fans an encouraging update on the band’s next album, revealing that he’s recently revisited the material and is more excited than ever about what’s coming.

Taking to social media on May 30th, Draiman shared his thoughts on the songs Disturbed have been crafting as the follow up to 2022’s Divisive, suggesting listeners shouldn’t expect a straightforward repeat of the band’s past formula.

“I’ll tell you one thing… I’ve had a lot of time to go over these last songs we’ve written. Took time away, came back to them, and fell in love with them all over again. Diverse, fresh, and powerful.

“It’ll be some time…but I can’t wait for these songs to see the light of day.

“I think everyone will be pleasantly…surprised.”

Anticipation building

The comments have fuelled anticipation for Disturbed’s next chapter, particularly after the release of 2025 standalone single I Will Not Break, which marked the band’s first release through their own label, Mother Culture Records.

While the group has yet to announce a release date for a full length album, guitarist Dan Donegan previously confirmed that the band completed enough material for an entire record during sessions in late 2024 (per Blabbermouth).

Rather than rushing a new album announcement, Disturbed chose to focus on celebrating the 25th anniversary of their landmark debut The Sickness while slowly unveiling new music.

According to Donegan, I Will Not Break (below) emerged unexpectedly during the final stages of those recording sessions. Inspired by old demo tapes and memories from the band’s earliest years, the guitarist found himself reconnecting with the mindset that helped shape Disturbed’s signature sound.

The result was a track that many fans immediately compared to the band’s classic early era material.

Donegan has previously revealed that the song’s now-famous riff arrived during an impromptu studio session with producer Drew Fulk and drummer Mike Wengren, with a bottle of Cakebread wine unexpectedly becoming part of the song’s origin story. The working title? Simply “Cakebread.”

The song’s themes of resilience and defiance have already resonated strongly with fans, but Draiman’s latest comments suggest I Will Not Break may only be scratching the surface of what Disturbed have planned.

If his assessment is anything to go by, the band’s next album won’t just revisit familiar territory, it may push Disturbed into entirely new creative ground while still delivering the heaviness fans expect.
