Stranger Things star David Harbour has landed his next movie role in a true crime thriller about an “infamous” case. Titled Evil Genius, the movie will tell the story that was made famous in Netflix’s 2018 true crime documentary of the same name.
Friends star Courteney Cox is on board to direct the film, which sees Patricia Arquette join Harbour on the cast.
According to Deadline, the new film will see Courtenay Miles pen a script that takes inspiration from the acclaimed true-crime documentary by Barbara Schroeder and Trey Borzillieri.
Telling the story of the infamous “pizza bomber” case, the film will explore the line between victim and villain as it follows pizza delivery driver Brian Wells, whose attempt to rob a bank was masterminded by Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong.
The logline for the documentary reads: “This baffling true-crime story starts with the grisly death of a pizza man who robs a bank with a bomb around his neck — and gets weirder from there.”

A story about love, loneliness, manipulation, and the people on the fringes who get pulled into something much bigger than themselves.”
Rounding out the cast are stars including Michael Chernus, Danielle Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Tom McCarthy, Gregory Alan Williams, Owen Teague, Ryan Eggold, Owen Teague and Harlow Jane.
Meanwhile, Harbour is gearing up for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, having starred as beloved cop Jim Hopper since the show first aired in 2016.
