Renowned journalist and ABC star David Muir has built a solid reputation over his long-standing career as a news anchor, amassing a large following of devoted fans.

As the presenter of 20/20 and World News Tonight, his busy schedule leaves him with little downtime. However, when he does manage to step away from the spotlight, he enjoys spending time with his close circle of family and friends.

The World News Tonight anchor was born on November 8, 1973, to Ronald Muir and Pat Mills, David spent his childhood in Onondaga Hills, New York. His mother later relocated to Skaneateles.

Despite their divorce when he was young, his parents jointly raised him. He still considers the area home, owning a coveted lakeside property in Syracuse.

David often attributes his early interest in news to his parents’ encouragement. In an interview with Syracuse.com, he recalled, “One of the images I won’t forget is my mother and my father driving me there on summer vacation or school breaks.”

Additionally, he has two younger step-siblings from his father’s second marriage. Owing to his blended family, David is a beloved uncle to a large group of nieces and nephews.

In 2021, he beamed with pride as he announced that his niece, Finan Malcolm, had finally completed her studies at Cornell University following a year-long postponement caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although he doesn’t have any children, David enjoys the companionship of his cherished gundog, Axel.

The 4-year-old canine frequently appears across his Instagram posts, where followers witness the duo’s unbreakable connection.

Friendship serves as another cornerstone in David’s private world, particularly his tight-knit bond with television personality Kelly Ripa, her spouse Mark Consuelos, and their kids, Joaquin, Lola, and Michael.

The group consistently champions each other’s professional endeavors, with Kelly even honoring David in her memoir Live Wire, penning, “To David Muir, you are the backbone and moral compass I need sometimes.”

Although he maintains a prominent public presence, David keeps his romantic affairs strictly confidential and has never openly acknowledged his dating status.
