Hollywood actor Patrick Muldoon, celebrated for his performances in Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place and the sci-fi action adventure Starship Troopers, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 19, at age 57, after suffering a heart attack.
His acting journey began during his school years with a brief two-episode appearance on the hit sitcom Who’s the Boss?. Following his 1991 graduation, he secured a recurring part on the teen series Saved by the Bell.
His career flourished rapidly as he took on the role of Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives just one year later, appearing from 1992 through 1995, and making a comeback from 2011 to 2012. He also made his mark on the glamorous drama Melrose Place, portraying the antagonist Richard Hart across three seasons, from Season 3 to Season 5, while starring in numerous television films throughout the late 1990s and 2000s. It comes as Ryan Gosling opened up about a possible Days of Our Lives set visit.
His breakthrough in cinema came with his portrayal of Zander Barcalow in the iconic 1997 cult classic Starship Troopers. His latest movie, the crime thriller Dirty Hands, is scheduled for release later this year.
Beyond acting, Patrick also worked as a producer, contributing his expertise to numerous projects, including The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, Marlowe, The Card Counter, The Dreadful, and Riff Raff.
His most recent project was Kockroach, featuring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton and Zazie Beetz, which is currently in production, reports the Express.
He also pursued his passion for music as the frontman for the band The Sleeping Mass. Fans expressed an outpouring of grief upon learning the heartbreaking news of his passing. “So sad to hear about Patrick Muldoon. Rest in Peace,” one mourner posted on Facebook. “Wow, I’m in shock, that’s weird. I just finished watching Starship Troopers…RIP Patrick,” another commented.
