The slate of new releases available for home viewing Dec. 23 includes Black Phone 2, Bugonia and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey on Blu-ray, while Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere and Sentimental Value become available digitally.
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release the horror sequel Black Phone 2 on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD disc Dec. 23. Director Scott Derickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) continues the nightmare as Ethan Hawke (First Reformed) returns to his role as deranged serial killer The Grabber opposite Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon, Incoming) in his breakout feature film role as Finn. In the sequel, The Grabber torments Finn from beyond the grave by menacing his sister Gwen (Madeline McGraw, Toy Story 4, “Secrets of Sulphur Springs”). Haunted by horrific visions, the teens set out to stop their psychological torture only to uncover a disturbing secret as they confront a killer who has only grown more powerful in death. The film also stars Demián Bichir (The Nun, A Better Life), Miguel Mora (The Black Phone), Jeremy Davies (“Justified”) and Arianna Rivas (A Working Man). The film has earned $77.4 million at the global box office.
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release Bugonia on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD disc Dec. 23. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the psychological thriller follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap a powerful CEO they believe is an alien out to destroy humanity. The cast includes Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Stavros Halkias, Aidan Delbis, Marc T. Lewis, Vanessa Eng and Alicia Silverstone. The film earned $16.9 million at the domestic box office.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release A Big Bold Beautiful Journey on Blu-ray Disc Dec. 23. In the fantasy romance, Sarah (Margot Robbie) and David (Colin Farrell) are single strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon, through a surprise twist of fate, find themselves on a funny, fantastical, sweeping adventure together where they get to relive important moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present and possibly getting a chance to alter their futures. The film has earned $6.7 million at the domestic box office.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will make the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere available through digital platforms at a premium price Dec. 23. From 20th Century Studios, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 “Nebraska” album. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring works. The musician and songwriter is portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, who authentically plays guitar and sings, a role for which he was recently honored with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama. The film has earned $22.6 million at the domestic box office. It arrives on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Disc Jan. 20.
Neon will release the Golden Globe-nominated Norwegian drama Sentimental Value for digital purchase Dec. 23. From writer-director Joachim Trier (The Worst Person in the World, Reprise, Oslo, August 31st), the film picked up a Grand Prix win at Cannes and had a theatrical run that delivered the highest post-pandemic opening-weekend per-screen average for a foreign-language film, grossing a total $200,000 across only four screens, according to Neon. Sentimental Value follows sisters Nora (Renate Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) as they reconnect with their estranged father, Gustav (Stellan Skarsgärd), a once-celebrated director eager to reclaim his former glory. When Gustav offers Nora the lead role in his long-awaited comeback film, she refuses, only to learn that he has given the part to a rising Hollywood star (Elle Fanning). As shooting begins, old wounds resurface, and the presence of the American star forces the family to confront their fragile family dynamics. Setimental Value has been nominated for eight Golden Globes, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and two nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Additionally, the film has been recognized with seven Critics Choice Award nominations, Best Supporting Actor for Stellan Skarsgård by The Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and Best Supporting Actress for Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas by the National Board of Review.

Lionsgate will release the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray of The Long Walk for wide release Dec. 23. It was previously released on disc Nov. 25, with the 4K at that time being an Amazon-exclusive Steelbook. Based on the Stephen King novel, The Long Walk is set in a dystopian version of 1970s and follows 50 boys in an annually televised endurance event where each competitor must maintain a pace of three miles per hour. Competitors who fail to maintain that pace after three warnings are executed while the winner receives a cash windfall and the fulfillment of any wish he chooses. Although signing up for the competition is voluntary, most young men sign up every year in a desperate attempt to improve the lives of their family members. Directed by Francis Lawrence (“Hunger Games” movies, Red Sparrow), The Long Walk stars Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza), David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus), Garrett Wareing (“Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists”), and Charlie Plummer (Moonfall). The film also stars Ben Wang (Karate Kid: Legends), Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit), Jordan Gonzalez (“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin”) and Mark Hamill (“Star Wars” franchise).
The 2012 sci-fi drama Cloud Atlas will make its 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review Dec. 23 from Radial Entertainment’s Shout! Studios. The three-disc set includes the new feature-length documentary “What Is An Ocean … Reconnecting the Cast and Crew of Cloud Atlas.” Hosted by Jon Donahue, this bonus feature includes new interviews with a wide variety of cast and crew including co-writers and directors Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis; David Mitchell, author of the original novel upon which the film is based; cast members Tom Hanks, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Keith David, James D’Arcy, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant; co-producer Roberto Malerba; co-director of photography Frank Griebe; production designers Hugh Bateup and Uli Hanisch; costume designers Kym Barrett and Pierre-Yves Gayraud; make-up artists Jeremy Woodhead, Daniel Parker and Sian Richards; and many additional crew members. Cloud Atlas weaves a narrative of humanity spanning hundreds of years by connecting actions and consequences from multiple points along the timeline, as cast members portray multiple characters interacting with history. The first disc of the collector’s set is a 4K disc with the film, which is presented with a new 4K restoration of the digital intermediate presented in 2160p UHD 2.39:1 widescreen with HDR-10 and Dolby Vision, and English DTS-HD master audio 5.1 and stereo. Disc two is a regular Blu-ray Disc with the film in 1080p high-definition 2.39:1 widescreen with English DTS-HD master audio 5.1 and stereo. The third disc is a regular Blu-ray with bonus materials including the new documentary and legacy extras.
Radial Entertainment’s Shout! Studios and GKIDS will release director Satoshi Kon’s 1997 anime film Perfect Blue as a limited edition 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc collection Dec. 23, marking its 4K debut. In Kon’s debut feature, when pop star Mima quits singing to pursue a career as an actress, her handlers begin turning up murdered. Haunted by visions of her former self, Mima’s reality and fantasy meld into a frenzied paranoia that threatens to shatter her identity forever. The three-disc set includes the film’s debut on 4K and Blu-ray discs, as well as a bonus disc. Esxtras include a new, extended lecture by Kon, as well as the “Angel of Your Heart” recording session and full English version, cast and crew interviews, and theatrical trailers and TV spots. This limited-edition collector’s edition also includes a new 132-page book, a poster, and 10 art cards, enclosed in a deluxe oversized rigid slipcase.
BayView Entertainment will release the 2013 horror film The Brain Hunter on Blu-ray Disc on Dec. 23 through the Allied Vaughn manufacture-on-demand service. In the film, a quiet little Midwestern town is disturbed by an unforeseen occurrence, and 20 years later, Cemetery Town is again disrupted by a series of killings. The town’s caretaker, Cliff, is in the center of chaos, and when he decides to care for a brain-eating creature, he soon realizes mankind and the unknown creatures from other worlds should not merge. From writer-director Robert Resto, the film stars Boriqua Barbee, Ira Berkowitz and Sandra Fernandez
