The long-awaited news for The Crown fans has finally arrived! Following extensive negotiations, it has been confirmed that Netflix and production company Left Bank Pictures are moving forward with a massive prequel series, reportedly backed by a £500 million budget.
The story will take us back to the turn of the century, beginning with the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. It is set to cover the reigns of four different monarchs and the global upheavals that followed, leading right up to the 1947 wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip. This allows the new series to end exactly where the very first season of The Crown began, creating a seamless and perfect loop of royal history.
With the deal moving forward, we are getting ready to witness the most turbulent and glamorous eras of the British monarchy once again.
