The Live Music Capital of the World officially has a new live music venue in the works at southeast Austin’s River Park.
AEG Presents broke ground on a 65,000-sqft venue in the 109-acre River Park development, which is off of East Riverside Drive, on Wednesday morning. Officials said the project will be “purpose-built” for concerts, conferences, and private events like weddings.
The yet-to-be-named venue will also have a capacity of 4,000 people. To put that in perspective, ACL Live at the Moody Theater has a capacity of 2,750, Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater caps at 2,500 people, and the Moody Amphitheater can handle 5,000 people.
Developers expect the venue to open in early 2027.
