Diane Keaton has sadly died at the age of 79. A family spokesperson confirmed to People the star passed away in California on Saturday. No further details have been released. Her loved ones have requested privacy as they mourn her loss. The First Wives’ Club star shared a touching photo just months before her death which she posted to Instagram. The Hollywood icon posed alongside her dog in the last photo posted publicly back in April.
In the heartwarming snap, The Godfather star was seen smiling brightly and looking healthy as she posed with her dog Reggie in an April 11 Instagram post promoting a Hudson Grace dog statue and dog biscuits. She was seen petting her pooch, who was also sporting a happy smile in hopes of snacking on the packaged biscuits, while sitting on the floor of her home.
Following Diane’s death, several celebrities and former co-stars paid tribute to the Hollywood actress and shared their memories of her.
Celebrities including Robert De Niro and Bette Midler have paid tribute to the Hollywood star.
Midler starred alongside Diane in the 1996 comedy-drama The First Wives Club.
She said: “I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me. She was hilarious, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was…oh, la, lala!”
Robert, who worked with Diane several times since The Godfather Part II, said in a statement, “I am very sad to hear of Diane’s passing. I was very fond of her, and the news of her leaving us has taken me totally by surprise.
“I was not expecting her to leave us. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.”

She adopted two children – daughter Dexter and son Duke – in her 50s and remained proudly unmarried, despite past relationships with major Hollywood names including Woody Allen, Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, and Jack Nicholson.
