If you find yourself in Walt Disney World’s DinoLand U.S.A. inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom anytime soon, you might want to know that one of its major attractions, along with the rest of DinoLand, will be going extinct next year.

DINOSAUR will permanently close on Feb. 2, 2026, meaning that the last time you will get to experience the ride, as well as the rest of DinoLand U.S.A., will be Feb. 1, 2026, according to the theme park’s page on the ride.

The closure of the ride and the rest of that section of Animal Kingdom was first announced in 2024 at the D23 2024: Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Here’s what else is closing in DinoLand and what’s next for the area as that section of Animal Kingdom undergoes a transformation.

The following attractions that are already closed include the TriceraTop Spin, the Fossil Fun Games, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures and The Boneyard.

According to the Disney Tourist Blog, the last day to experience The Boneyard was Labor Day.

What will replace DinoLand U.S.A.?

The 11-acre section of DinoLand U.S.A. will be replaced by Disney’s Tropical Americas, a land focusing on the regions in the Western Hemisphere north and south of the equator, according to Disney Parks Blog.

The new section is expected to feature two new rides based on the hit movies “Encanto” and “Indiana Jones,” and will be called “Pueblo Esperanza.”

While an official opening date hasn’t been set for the new land, it is expected to open in 2027.
