In an ever-evolving streaming landscape, DIRECTV has made a play for genre-specific viewers, while continuing to accommodate those who want access to it all.

More from The Hollywood Reporter

Best known for its Signature Packages (the service’s comprehensive live TV bundles), DIRECTV has introduced more targeted — and therefore, more affordable — Genre Packs. Starting at $19.99 per month (following a five-day free trial period), these streamlined monthly packs were created as a way for customers to tap into their specific areas of interest (i.e. sports, entertainment) without needing to commit to the provider’s more traditional offerings. Customers can either pick a favorite or mix and match for their ideal blend of TV and streaming apps.

DIRECTV offers six main Genre Packs: MyEntertainment, MySports, MyNews, MyKids, MiEspañol and the MySports & MyNews Duo. Customers then have the option to add Mini Packs — MySports Extra, MyCinema or MyHome Team — to qualifying base plans.

For a brief breakdown, MyEntertainment ($34.99 per month) has 60-plus channels focused on, unsurprisingly, entertainment, along with subscriptions to the Disney+, Hulu Bundle and HBO Max Basic With Ads. MySports ($64.99 per month) has 20-plus sports networks plus an ESPN Unlimited subscription. MyNews ($39.99 per month) has 10-plus channels focused on breaking news and information, with local channels included that vary by market. Customers can opt to bundle and save with the MySports & MyNews Duo ($79.99 per month), which has everything offered in both the MySports and MyNews Genre Packs for just $15 more than the former (a savings of $24.99 per month compared their individual prices).

Got kids at home? MyKids ($19.99 per month) gets you family-friendly live TV plus a Disney+ Basic subscription. And for the most complete Spanish-language TV channel pack — over 60 popular Spanish-language channels (including Univision and Telemundo), where available and a subscription to ViX Premium with ads — the MiEspañol Genre Pack ($34.99 per month) is your pick.

On top of these standard Genre Packs, the three Mini-Packs — MySports Extra ($12.99 per month), MyHome Team ($19.99 per month) and MyCinema ($9.99 per month) — can be added to qualifying base packs. Learn more about each Genre Pack, take advantage of limited-time promos and sign up for a five-day free trial now at Directv.com/affiliates/genre-packs.1

  1. New residential customers only. A valid card is required. Your card may be charged a temporary hold during trial period. After trial, service renews monthly unless canceled. Cancel anytime. Prices may vary through third parties. Restr’s apply. Visit Directv.com/affiliates/genre-packs for more information. ↩︎
