Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was seen making a low-key visit to his future home in Norfolk to have the curtains measured as he prepares to leave Royal Lodge.
The former prince, 65, looked over the recent renovations at Marsh Farm where he is expected to live quietly now that he has been stripped of his royal title and honours.
Earlier this week, removal vans were spotted emptying the 30-room mansion in Windsor Great Park he was forced to relinquish following damaging revelations about his friendship with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
It is understood that Mountbatten-Windsor will reside at neighbouring Wood Farm Cottage until renovations to Marsh Farm are complete, The Sun reports.
An insider told the newspaper: “It was the first time he’s seen his new house and he is resigned to the fact that this is his future.
“He’s come to the conclusion that he has to get on with the rest of his life and accepts he has to make the best of it.”

Marsh Farm is a five-bed farmhouse tucked away on the royal estate of Sandringham. It has so far been bolstered with added security, including a six-foot fence, while police have been seen circling the property during renovations.
It is believed Mountbatten-Windsor will have fully vacated Royal Lodge before his birthday on February 17, when its keys will be handed back to the King.
One person who won’t be joining Andrew in his new residence is his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who is also preparing to leave Royal Lodge. It is unknown where she will be moving to.
Andrew was spotted driving one of his Range Rovers out of Royal Lodge at around 9am on Tuesday, arriving at Sandringham shortly after 12pm.
An onlooker described seeing several black Range Rovers passing the road from Wood Farm to Marsh Farm. Locals says they have seen builders at work in the property, with Sky television installed last week.
A digger was working in the grounds and a workman could be seen walking to and from an outbuilding.
The property has been empty for several years and is undergoing works to make it habitable before Andrew moves there. Marsh Farm is around two miles from the King’s Sandringham House.
A woman who lives nearby said she could not believe the ex-prince was “downgrading” and insisted the property was “right on the road” with “barely any drive”.
Another jibed that “even this place is too good for him”.
