Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has received his first royal visitor since being placed in isolation at Sandringham following his removal from the Royal Lodge.
The disgraced former prince, who was arrested in February on the morning of his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office, was referred to as “Detainee A” during a 12-hour interview at Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk.
The father-of-two has since been released under investigation, but has been stripped of his military and royal patronages following the release of the Epstein files, which linked him to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Since then. his only visitor was his younger brother Prince Edward, who reportedly visited for a “quiet word”.
“Prince Edward was the first and only member of the Royal Family to visit,” a source told The Sun on Friday.
The visit came after months of public scrutiny and family distancing, with Andrew largely shunned by the royal household.
“Andrew has been ignored by everyone since he left Royal Lodge, including his daughters and ex-wife who have stayed away,” the source added.
Edward’s visit focused on the former duke’s move from his temporary residence at Wood Farm to Marsh Farm.
“Edward was meant to be staying at Wood Farm as he regularly books it for Easter, but his brother was there,” the source said.
“Andrew has been dragging his heels. He could have moved by now, but has been reluctant.”
The timing is significant, with Easter weekend long considered the deadline for Andrew’s relocation.
His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who lived with him at the Royal Lodge, has remained out of sight since leaving the property under cover of darkness.
Meanwhile, his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, have remained separate from him and absent from public events.
The former prince has consistently denied any wrongdoing relating to Epstein.
Since the posthumous publication of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir in October, public outrage has intensified.
In response, King Charles formally removed Andrew’s princely title on October 30.
Over subsequent months, the US Department of Justice files relating to Epstein further fuelled public scrutiny, with photographs and messages drawing attention to the former duke’s connections.
Despite the ongoing investigation and family estrangement, Andrew remains at Sandringham, awaiting his move to Marsh Farm.
In February, the Duke of Edinburgh was speaking in Dubai while attending the World Government Summit, where he was questioned about the controversy surrounding his older brother.
“Well, with the best will in the world … they (the audience) all came here to listen to education, solving the future, but no, I think it’s all really important always to remember the victims and who are the victims in all this,” he said.
It marked the first time a senior member of the Royal Family had spoken publicly since millions of pages of court documents were released by the US Justice Department, earlier this year.
