(NEXSTAR) – Amid intense nationwide scrutiny over its decision to take Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show off the air, Disney announced Tuesday that it will be raising subscription prices for many of its streaming packages.
Kimmel was suspended over comments he made in the wake of the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.
Nexstar Media, the parent company of this station, announced Tuesday it would continue to preempt the show.
“We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve,” Nexstar’s statement read, in part. “In the meantime, we note that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will be available nationwide on multiple Disney-owned streaming products, while our stations will focus on continuing to produce local news and other programming relevant to their respective markets.”
In the wake of Disney’s initial decision to pull “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” a number of celebrities and notable figures urged viewers to ditch their Disney subscriptions. Despite the timing, however, both celebrity.land and Deadline report that the decision was planned before the controversy.
Disney, which did not immediately return Nexstar’s request for comment, also has a long record of instituting price increases for both its programming and parks in the month of October.
What prices are changing?
Disney+ and Hulu will go from $10.99 to $12.99; Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle will go from $16.99 to $19.99; and Disney+ Premium, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle Legacy will go from $21.99 to $24.99.

The Disney+, Hulu and HBO bundles will both go up in price by $3 to $32.99 without ads and $19.99 with ads, while standalone plans for Disney+ and Disney+ Premium will go up by $2 and $3 per month, respectively.
Pricing of the NFL+ plans remains the same.
The new rates take effect Oct. 21, 2025.
Disney announced Monday that it would be reinstating the late-night show after executives engaged in “thoughtful conversations with Jimmy” and “reached the decision to return the show Tuesday.”
