Disney is bidding Hulu a fond farewell after two decades as a significant outlet in the streaming world, inasmuch as its being phased out as a freestanding platform.
The entertainment powerhouse announced on Oct. 2 that by this time next year, Hulu’s content will be fully integrated into Disney+, according to a story on pennlive.com
And with the huge adjustment comes the end of an era for the service that got off the ground in 2007.
FYI: The change began on Oct. 8 when Hulu replaced the Star brand internationally, becoming Disney’s global focal point for adult-style programming.
The company has stated that its goal is to offer streaming options that are easier for subscribers to navigate — and build one stronger platform, the story goes on to report.
Disney took full control of Hulu at the beginning of this year after acquiring it from Comcast.
And inasmuch as Hulu is set to disappear as a separate app, the brand will go on as “Hulu on Disney+,” maximizing its strong recognition among global audiences.
