CBS’ Boston Blue is expanding its cast with addition of a Marvel star. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actor Xochitl Gomez has joined the Blue Bloods spinoff as Penny. Her addition hints at a possible romantic storyline with Sean Reagan, sparking anticipation among fans.

Marvel star Xochitl Gomez is set to join the cast of CBS’s Boston Blue in a recurring role. Known for her role as America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the actress will appear as Penny, a sharp and charismatic young woman.
As per TV Line, Penny is “a quick-witted, charming young woman with a mysterious past who crashes into Sean’s life.” Her first appearance is slated for the episode airing on November 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
The series follows Donnie Wahlberg reprising his Blue Bloods role as Danny Reagan. He relocates from New York to Boston to take up a new position with the city’s police department. There, he partners with Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green, the eldest daughter of a well-known law enforcement family. The cast also includes Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver, Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, and Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters.
Boston Blue expands the well-known Blue Bloods universe after its fourteen-season run. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with JBTV, with Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis serving as showrunners and executive producers. Meanwhile, Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, and Wahlberg also take on the role of executive producers.
Gomez made her acting debut on Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home and gained recognition for playing Dawn Schafer in Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club. She also won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars.
