Country music icon Dolly Parton had to cancel a scheduled appearance at her Dollywood theme park this week due to health concerns.
The 79 year old was supposed to unveil a new attraction on Wednesday, but she informed fans that she was advised to rest following treatment for a kidney stone. “I know, I’m here and you’re there and wondering why that is,” Parton said in a video message posted online by journalist Marcus Leshock.

Parton revealed that doctors instructed her to take a break after she developed an infection. “Turns out there was an infection, and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling around this minute, so you need a few days to get better,'” she explained.
“So he suggested I not go to Dollywood today,” she added, reports the Mirror US.
She reassured fans that her absence would only be temporary. “Don’t worry about me, I’m gonna be ok,” Parton assured.
“Just can’t do it today.”
Representatives for Parton did not respond to requests for comment.
As per the Mayo Clinic, kidney stones are formed when minerals and salts crystallize in the kidneys. While passing them can cause severe pain, treatment typically prevents lasting damage.
This health issue comes after a challenging year for Parton. Her husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean, passed away in March at the age of 82.
In May, Parton opened up to the Independent about her illness and passing, expressing solace in knowing he was no longer suffering. “But that still doesn’t makeup for the loss and the loneliness of it,” she confessed.
Later, on Khloé Kardashian’s podcast “Khloé in Wonder Land”, Parton disclosed her decision to take a break from music following his demise. “I can’t do it right now ’cause I got so many other things that I can’t afford the luxury of, you know, of getting emotional right now,” she admitted in July.
“I can’t do it.”
She further mentioned her plans to return to performing, but would need some time before stepping back onto the stage. “I’m just putting that all on hold,” she declared.
