Dolly Parton has been forced to pull out of a major event after postponing her Las Vegas shows due to health concerns.
The country music icon, 79, previously revealed she has been advised by her doctors that she needs to undergo medical procedures to treat the undisclosed health issues.
While Dolly insisted she isn’t retiring, she did say she will need to “slow down.” Now, the singer has been forced to cancel an appearance at the 16th Governors Awards on November 16. She previously missed an appearance at Dollywood after getting medical advice.
Dolly was due to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the event, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Express US has approached Dolly’s representative for comment.
Fans have been sharing their well-wishes for the singer, with one person writing on X, “God speed your treatment and recovery. You are one of the best of us.”
Dolly previously released a statement to announce the postponement of her Las Vegas performances. “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” she said.
The singer continued, “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”
Speaking about the concerts, she added, “Given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say.”
She then addressed retirement fears, saying, “And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
