Donald Trump has attacked music icon Taylor Swift, saying that she ranks below him on TikTok, or “Tic Tac,” as the president puts it.
The president’s dislike for the newly married singer goes back to when she supported Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election.
Trump’s latest swipe at Taylor Swift came with a claim about TikTok popularity that does not match the platform’s rankings
The president made a surprising remark on Swift on July 6 at a White House press conference on July 6 while discussing China’s involvement with the social media platform. “You know who the number one person in Tic Tac is by far?” Trump said while mispronouncing the platform’s name.
He continued, “Trump, me. I’m number one… Taylor Swift was number eleven,” adding, “I know one thing: great American people, tremendous business people, and companies bought it…I said it’s a good thing for TikTok, but it’s good for us, too. American companies, great ones, own our TikTok, and it is very influential. But I’m number one by a lot.”
According to OK! Magazine, the numbers, however, paint a different story. The insanely popular singer has only shared three TikTok posts in the past year, but already has roughly 33.5 million followers and more than 274.5 million total likes across her content. Trump, on the other hand, reportedly has 16.6 million followers and 169.6 million likes across his content.
Trump seems to have a fixation on Swift, as he had also shared an Instagram post and parodied the Madison Square Garden wedding billboard, changing the JUST&T Married” with “Trump Is Your President,” adding the phrase “It’s happened!”
Swifties have routinely lashed back at the president, calling out his obsession with the star when he should be concentrating on improving human rights access for the citizens.
