Neil Young has not been shy about sharing his disdain for Donald Trump, and the latest jab thrown by the rock legend comes in the form of a song.
Young recently released “Big Crime,” and it rips the president and his decision to send the National Guard into Washington, D.C.
Some of the lyrics?
“Don’t need no fascist rules/ Don’t want no fascist schools/ Don’t want soldiers on our streets/ There’s big crime in DC at the White House/ Theres big crime in DC at the White House,” the song goes. “Got to get the fascists out/ Got to clean the White House out/ Don’t want soldiers on our streets/ There’s big crime in DC at the White House/ There’s big crime in DC at the White House.”
Loudersound.com reported that Young debuted the song during a recent show in Chicago, Illinois.
Young made news on the Trump front earlier this year when he invited the president to attend his summer “Love Earth” tour.
“When I tour the USA this summer, if there is not martial law by then which would make it impossible, let’s all come together and stand for American values,” Young wrote in a post on his Neil Young Archives. “We will not be doing a political show. We will be playing the music we love for all of us to enjoy together. President Trump, you are invited. Come and hear our music just as you did for decades.”
Rolling Stone noted that Trump is an admitted fan of Young’s music and even did an interview with the outlet in 2008 about the singer.
“He’s got something very special,” Trump told Rolling Stone back then of Young. “He’s performed for me at my casinos over the years, and he just brings it down. I’ve met him on occasions and he’s a terrific guy.”
Then again, the site said, Trump could not name any of Young’s songs during that interview.
“I like all his songs,” Trump said then. “You know, ‘Rock and Roll’ — just great stuff.”
There’s now probably at least one song that Trump does not like.
