Donna Adelson, now convicted in a high-profile murder case, once appeared as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune during the height of its popularity in the 1980s.
The episode aired during the show’s early years when Pat Sajak was still the show’s host, and Vanna White had just recently joined.
“I’m responsible for the activities, classes, and lessons of my son Robert, who is 16, Charlie, who is 12, Wendi, who is 10, my son Harvey, who is in the audience, and my dog Sam,” she said, as recent WOF viewers have been furious with the show.
The comment drew laughter from the audience when Sajak asked about the dog’s age. “He’s 5,” she replied, to which Sajak quipped, “Give him our best.”
At one point in the game, Adelson pushed into the lead, ahead of her competitors with $2,100.
Prosecutors said Donna Adelson played a key role in planning the murder-for-hire plot, which involved hiring two men to ambush and kill Markel outside his Tallahassee home.
Her son, Charlie Adelson, was also found guilty on the same charges in 2023 and is currently serving a life sentence. Donna Adelson, now in her 70s, is awaiting sentencing.
