As DoorDash continues to broaden its non-restaurant delivery business, the platform’s growing roster of grocery, pharmacy, and retail partners has made it an increasingly practical resource for entertainment productions — particularly during late-night shoots, screenings and events.
DoorDash has spent the past couple of years aggressively building out its non-restaurant offerings, and the breadth of what’s now available — particularly in major entertainment markets like Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta — may come as a surprise. The platform now operates as the leading third-party marketplace in U.S. grocery and retail by order volume, having crossed that threshold as of late 2025. The number of products available across its marketplace has millions of products across more than 100,000 grocery, convenience, pharmacy and retail stores.
The grocery expansion matters most for longer shoots. Kroger joined in October 2025, bringing Ralphs, Harris Teeter, and Fred Meyer to on-demand delivery. FreshDirect covers the New York tri-state area with direct-from-farm produce and premium proteins. Gelson’s and Citarella serve the gourmet end in L.A. and New York respectively — the kind of fresh seafood, dry-aged meats and chef-prepared specialties that show up on a rider, not a craft services order. For multi-week productions where a kitchen needs stocking or a personal assistant is sourcing for a cast member with specific dietary requirements, the wide array of grocers available on the platform offers the most efficient solution.
Then there are the categories nobody expected DoorDash to carry. Ulta Beauty for when a makeup or hair department burns through a product mid-shoot. Sally Beauty for professional supplies. Party City through DashMart in most major metros — balloons, barware, tablecloths — for the wrap party someone decided to throw on short notice. Alcohol delivery in eligible markets.1 American Eagle for the rare but real occasion when a sixteen-hour day requires a change of clothes. Books for holding rooms and travel days.
Delivery may be available until 2–3 am in many cities, with 24-hour options in select markets. For an industry built around schedules that nobody else keeps, that window is the point.
