October 1, 1995, marked the beginning of something that would change pop music forever: The day *NSYNC officially formed. And today, the beloved boy band is celebrating their milestone 30th anniversary with fans worldwide.
To mark the occasion, the group — Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and JC Chasez — shared a nostalgic video montage on TikTok filled with clips from over the years. From their early days performing in matching outfits to their record-breaking tours and unforgettable award show moments, the montage was a heartfelt love letter to their legacy.
The band captioned the post: “30 years … October 1, 1995 feels like yesterday … and somehow a lifetime ago. Through every high and low, your love has carried us. Forever grateful … Here’s to three decades of *NSYNC.” They signed off on the post with all five of their names.
The video immediately sent longtime fans into an emotional frenzy, with hundreds flooding the comments to share their memories and demand one thing out of the boys — a reunion concert.
How *NSYNC Came Together
The boy band first came to life when Chris Kirkpatrick pitched the idea of forming a vocal group after being encouraged by music manager Lou Pearlman (who had just finished putting together another boy band you may have heard of — The Backstreet Boys). He reached out to Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez — both of whom had appeared on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club. Joey Fatone, a friend of Kirkpatrick’s from Orlando, joined soon after. The group later added Lance Bass, finalizing the lineup that would soon become a worldwide sensation.
The name *NSYNC itself was cleverly created using the last letter of each of the original members’ first names (Justin, Chris, Joey, Jason [original member before Lance], and JC). Once Lance stepped in, he was given the nickname “Lansten” to keep the acronym intact.
From their breakout single “I Want You Back” in 1996 to their record-shattering albumNo Strings Attached in 2000, *NSYNC quickly became one of the biggest pop acts in the world. Their harmonies, choreography, and charm defined a generation of teen pop — and their songs remain staples of ’90s and early 2000s nostalgia.
Fans Beg for a Reunion
While the anniversary post celebrated their past, fans couldn’t resist demanding more in the future. “STOP PLAYING GAMES AND GIVE US THE REUNION TOUR!!!!!!!” one fan wrote, while another joked, “Waiting to donate my retirement savings money towards concert tickets.”
For many, the group’s music provided comfort during difficult times. “In a childhood full of trauma *NSYNC WAS and IS a bright light in my life! 30 years later I still get butterflies. *NSYNC girlie FOREVER. Happy 30th anniversary,” one follower shared.
Others were ready to put their “adult money” toward a ticket. “I would sell a kidney and part of my liver to go to a reunion concert!!!” a fan joked. Another added, “I love this! Now stop Tearin’ Up My Heart and drop those tour dates!”
The overall consensus was clear: Fans are beyond grateful for three decades of memories — but they’re also hoping that 2025 will finally bring the long-rumored reunion tour.
