The Wilson Community Bargain Shop is inviting the community to shop, eat and play at the first Community Bargain Expo at Wilson Ballpark from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.
“Right now, we have 35 vendors signed up, from entrepreneurs to food vendors, businesses, nonprofits; this is a lot of local bodies coming together,” organizer Antioch Artis said. “This group came about 15 years ago to connect local businesses online, selling items, and it turned into a community itself. We’ve got 32,000 local members (on Facebook) and really just wanted to take it offline and create opportunities for small businesses. We’re all about bringing the community together.”
Artis said admission into the expo is free, but certain areas are restricted behind ticketed access, like the kids’ zone with a bounce house and treats. Artis said there will also be a live entertainment area for the adults. To purchase tickets for these attractions, visit wilsonbargainshop.com or purchase on the day of the event. Family packs are also available.
“This is something that we want to do quarterly or annually,” Artis said. “We do still have some vendor space available. You can register for that online as well.”
Artis said some of the businesses that will be at the expo include Southern Best Gifts, Flip Flop Shop, Hometown Pest Solutions, Ladybug Kettle Corn and Permanent Jewelry and Design.
He said last-minute singers and praise teams are also welcome to come to the expo.
“We’d love to have them.” he said. “I believe communities grow stronger when we support the people who live, work and invest here. This expo is about creating a platform for local businesses to shine while giving families a fun, memorable experience they can enjoy together. When we support local, everyone wins.”
