A ‘dreadful’ 2025 box office bomb has been quietly added to Netflix that film fans say is ‘awful’.

It’s been a mixed year for movie studios in terms of their output, with trying to predict what will be a hit more uncertain than ever.

Outside of the live-action remake of 2000s animated classic Lilo & Stitch and China’s Ne Zha 2, no film has managed to gross over a billion dollars.

The Minecraft Movie remains close to reaching the milestone, with Jurassic World Rebirth and How to Train Your Dragon marking a successful year for family flicks.

Other hits to emerge from the first eight months of the year, include Superman, Brad Pitt’s F1, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Sinners and 28 Years Later.

It hasn’t been a great year for Disney overall, with Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World both falling well short of projections.

Additionally, the house of mouse’s flawed attempt at rebooting Snow White didn’t make enough money to cover its budget.

Wolf Man, Love Hurts, Robert De Niro’s The Alto Knights and Robert Pattinson’s Mickey 17 all failed to break even. However, while all the films mentioned above generated some buzz, even if relatively small, there’s one film from this year many will be surprised to know exits.

Dave Bautista stars in In the Lost Lands(Image: Vertical)

Based on the short story of the same name by George R. R. Martin and directed by Resident Evil’s Paul W. S. Anderson, In the Lost Lands is a bizarre film no matter what way you look at it.

Starring Milla Jovovich and Marvel star Dave Bautista, the film follows a witch and a hunter who journey into a dangerous landscape to find an artifact for a queen.

It’s hard to tell what went wrong with this one, whether it’s Martin’s fans wanting him to finish his final Game of Thrones novels, or the visuals being headache inducing.

In the Lost Lands throws out countless names for viewers to struggle to remember, has little logic on offer and contains a plot that would take weeks to try make sense of.

Boasting a hefty budget of $55 million, the film managed to pull in a disastrous worldwide total of just $6.1 million.

With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 24%, those who have seen it didn’t hold back with their reviews on the film social media site Letterboxd.

@SilentDawn said: “This is dreadful. PWSA’s sensibilities of unnatural landscapes, abstracted action, and video game fluidity reach a new level of garishness with In the Lost Lands.” @BuddyO added: “In The Lost Lands refers to the desolate land of Walmart where this will live untouched for eternity in the DVD bargain bin.”

@peskypaul wrote: “They didn’t put much effort into the film why should I reciprocate, it’s a disaster of a project and it’s hard to fathom just how this same director made Event Horizon!” @Jakepetroski posted: “Pretty awful movie. Looks terrible and is poorly acted. Had a dreadful time watching this.”

@ChristianHa commented: “The movie is a mess of half-baked fantasy tropes, over-stylized visuals, and clunky dialogue that never really lands.” @Joel Hilke stated: “Oh boy… In the Lost Lands is twenty pounds of nonsense crammed into a ten pound sack.”

In the Lost Lands is available to watch now on Netflix
