Drew Barrymore has been feeling nostalgic and appreciating her friendships.
On Monday morning, the actress and talk show host posted a throwback video of her and Adam Sandler to Instagram, with the description in the video saying, “May all of our friendships sound like this.”
The clip was of Barrymore and Sandler during a press interview for their 2004 film, 50 First Dates, where they were both smiling, praising each other’s previous movies and explaining why they work so well together.
First working together in the 1998 rom-com The Wedding Singer, the duo quickly discovered their natural chemistry, leading to more collaborations in 50 First Dates and Blended in 2014. Off-screen, their friendship remains just as strong, often described as platonic yet deeply affectionate.
“We trust each other’s taste,” Barrymore said in the interview. “I love his [movies]. I think that has so much to do with it, when you’re working with someone and you really trust their taste and believe in them.”
In the caption, the 50-year-old talk show host wrote, “Now this is friendship! This feels like it was just yesterday. @adamsandler.”
Fans were quick to flood the comments with love, praising the duo’s lasting friendship.
“I LOVE you both, your chemistry on screen is amazing. And the funny scenes, the best,” a follower expressed. “Please make more movies together 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️.”
“We finish each other’s….sandwiches,” a fan commented, referring to the lyric from the song “Love is an Open Door” from Disney’s 2014 animated film Frozen.
“Could this be a subliminal message about a new movie?” a follower asked. “If so, that would be amazing.”
“Amen Drew. And one important quality you hold so dearly…trust,” a fan account dedicated to the actress commented.
Another wrote, “Wholesome duo 😊.”
“Trust, the foundation for any relationship to stand the test of time,” another expressed.
Ross Mathews, who produces and frequently joins Barrymore on her daytime talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, even joined the conversation, writing, “LOVE THIS ❤️❤️❤️.”
Since 2020, Barrymore has been hosting her daytime show, The Drew Barrymore Show, which airs at 6 p.m. ET on CBS. Meanwhile, Sandler just starred in a new film, Happy Gilmore 2, which is out now on Netflix.
