Poster for That’s My Neighbor! benefit
The Broadside Easter Sunday will host the “That’s My Neighbor!” benefit to aid the New Orleans immigrant community, featuring an Easter Egg hunt, raffle, face painting and music from Bra’s Band Brass Band, Kaye the Beast, DJ Et Deaux and more.
Other performers appearing at the benefit include Hans Williams, Anna Moss, Ocie Crowe and Noa Jamir.
Proceeds from the benefit, which runs from 2 to 7 pm, will go to Union Migrante. There is a $20 suggested donation though nobody will be turned away.
While the occupation of south Louisiana last year by the Trump regime’s anti-migrant paramilitary forces was broadly speaking unsuccessful in terms of the number of people they had hoped to disappear, scores of New Orleanians were still detained and terrorized.
The months-long operation also forced many families into hiding and forced numerous businesses to temporarily close, resulting in loss of income for adults and time in the classroom for children.
Founded in 2020, Union Migrante provides a variety of services to migrants in the New Orleans area, ranging from English classes to connecting people with legal services.
