Ashuelot Concerts is presenting two concerts for Mother’s Day this weekend featuring Ecuadoran cellist Francisco Vila and British musicians Nicholas Burns (piano) and Louisa Stonehill (violin) in Keene and Bellows Falls on Friday, May 8 and Sunday, May 10. The program features a beautiful selection of Haydn, Dvorak and Mendelssohn piano trios.
Friday’s concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Stonewall Farm, 242 Chesterfield Road in Keene, N.H. Sunday’s concert is 3 p.m. at Bellows Falls Opera House, 7 Village Square, Bellows Falls.
Francisco Vila has appeared as a soloist with the Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela, Houston Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, Aalborg Symfoniorkester, Liege Royal Philharmonic, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Santander Festival Orchestra, Indiana University Philharmonic, and all principal orchestras of his native Ecuador. He has toured extensively throughout Europe, North & South America and performs on a historic cello made by Vincenzo Panormo in 1790.
“We are thrilled to be performing with Francisco Villa again this weekend”, says Nicholas Burns. “He brings an enormous amount of charisma and charm to the stage, and is incredibly passionate about his music making”.
Ahead of the concert, the Trio will perform for local children attending Trinity Christian School, Franklin Elementary School, Surry Village Charter School and Highbridge Hill Elementary School.
“Introducing children to these incredible pieces is always a thrill”, says Program Director Louisa Stonehill. “Their response is so sophisticated and each time we visit a school, we are impressed with the children’s insight.”
Tickets for both concerts are available online at ashuelotconcerts.org and early booking is recommended as recent concerts have sold out.
