One of Eddie Murphy’s best comedy movies is now available to stream for free.
Murphy made his official film debut in 1982 with 48 Hrs. He then went on to star in a number of different movies and franchises over the following decades, including 1984’s Beverly Hills Cop, 1988’s Coming to America, 1998’s Dr. Dolittle, 2001’s Shrek, and many more.

Trading Places, the 1983 film directed by John Landis that co-stars Dan Aykroyd, is now available to stream for free on YouTube, courtesy of the LOL! Network.

A description of the film’s plot reads, “What happens when a rich executive (Dan Aykroyd) loses everything and a street hustler (Eddie Murphy) suddenly takes his place? In Trading Places, two shady millionaires make a wild bet that turns both their lives upside down. But when the odd duo figures out the scheme, they cook up a hilarious plan for payback.”
Trading Places made approximately $90.4 million at the domestic box office, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of 1983 in the United States and Canada behind Return of the Jedi, Terms of Endearment, and Flashdance. In total, it made around $120.6 million worldwide.
The cast of the movie also includes Ralph Bellamy as Randolph Duke, Don Ameche as Mortimer Duke, Denholm Elliott as Coleman, Jamie Lee Curtis as Ophelia, Kristin Holby as Penelope Witherspoon, and Paul Gleason as Clarence Beeks.
Murphy also recently starred alongside Pete Davidson, Eva Longoria, and Keke Palmer in The Pickup, directed by Tim Story, which was released on Amazon Prime Video last month. He’ll also soon reprise his vocal role as Donkey in Shrek 5, which currently has a June 30, 2027, release date.
